Writing in Public - Year 1, Month 1, Days 8-12

Michael Salsbury
I am continuing my adoption of Dean Wesley Smith's Writing in Public challenge of the past couple of years.

I've definitely fallen off the proverbial wagon pretty early on here.  My last post on this subject was 6 days ago, so I'll cover what little I've written since that time.

It's important to note that I do not include email or work-related documents in my totals.  I have no idea how many thousands of words I've written in that arena since Dec. 14.

Today, I thought it would be fun to do some Amazon reviews.  I wound up writing 27 of them.  That worked out to 3,774 words and a handful of product photos.  Not bad.  I have an idea for using an Amazon review to drive readers to my blog, but until I've tried it and made sure Amazon's OK with it, I won't mention the idea in any detail here.

I also wrote two posts for my beer blog, and received a nice comment on the blog from a local Columbus beer-themed tour company (Columbus Brew Adventures).  I also added notes on my review of St. Bernardus Christmas Ale to reflect the flavor of a bottle that had been aged for a year in the cellar.  It improved, but not as much as I'd hoped.  And I talked about the Gulden Draak clone beer I've been brewing.

I wrote a review of the Mariner Software writing software Contour, which helps writers flesh out the structure of their story.  Contour is focused on screenwriting but is useful for novelists, too.
