Being a big fan of space exploration, I took the opportunity to watch a space shuttle launch a few years ago when I was in Florida. It was a very inspirational experience. When my wife and I made plans to travel to Florida in May, I naturally checked the NASA web site to see where things stood with the shuttle program. I was pleased to see that they had a launch planned for the week prior to our visit, citing the date as "not earlier than May 15". Due to the need to complete some paperwork and testing, they've bumped that date out by a week, to the same week I expect to be there. If all goes well, I'll get to see my second shuttle launch. Assuming I get to see the big bird go up, there will be pictures of the launch here in June.
Here are some photos of the last shuttle launch I witnessed.
